Joan Lionetti is a 29 plus year Executive Director of Tucson Clean & Beautiful.
Mike Jette is known by many because of his career as a prosecutor, and also as a dedicated environmental leader. Mike served for years as president of the board of directors for Tucson Clean & Beautiful; he has been instrumental in driving initiatives that enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal and promote sustainability and community well-being. His leadership and hands-on volunteer efforts make him an exemplary figure in the movement to clean up and green Tucson.
Mike’s approach to environmental leadership is not just about addressing immediate concerns but also cultivating long-term sustainable practices. Under his guidance, Tucson Clean & Beautiful has seen a significant expansion of its flagship program Trees for Tucson and the YARDS program.
Trees for Tucson focuses on increasing the urban tree canopy, which reduces urban heat island effects, improves air quality, and enhances the city’s natural beauty. Through this program, residents can acquire low-cost trees, with an emphasis on native and drought-tolerant species, ensuring that the city’s green infrastructure is resilient to climate variability. Mike has been a strong advocate for this program, recognizing the multiple benefits trees provide, from shade and cooling to habitat for local wildlife. His leadership helped streamline processes, making it easier for residents to participate and contribute to a greener Tucson.
