I support Mike Jette for Pima County Attorney because I believe he will make necessary change to help victims of domestic violence.
This issue is personal to me. I am a survivor of domestic abuse and violence.
I was in a nine-year abusive relationship. As time passed the abuse grew exponentially in frequency and violence. On April 27, 2023, my ex-partner pushed me to the ground and strangled me from behind. By the grace of God I was able to break free and called 911. He was charged with felony aggravated assault.
I cannot fully express the devastation and the confusion I felt, and trying to navigate the judicial system was extremely difficult, frustrating and bordering on impossible. No one from the County Attorney’s office reached out to help. I had no idea what to do, how to proceed. I was never informed of court dates, what to expect. Nothing. The police gave me a pamphlet to get in touch with Emerge Center Against Domestic Abuse, and I did get a phone call from the detective assigned to my case — but I received no help from the County Attorney’s office.
